All of us know that we get older every time.. Once a year, we have our birthday! ^^
On that day usually people gave us wishes, presents, birthday cakes, surprises, or any special things. They want to make the birthday one happy on that special day.
Once in a year, I used to celebrate my birthday..
well,, not with parties or something extravagant but just celebrating myself and feel that I'm the special one that day.. in other words, i feel like I am the center of the attention that day...*how selfish*
But I got a special experience on my last birthday.. My 19th birthday is the most special birthday I've ever had.. Well, actually it's just an ordinary birthday, but i learned something great that day..^^
14 March 2009, there was 2 special occasions in my life..
First, was my birthday.. And the second one was my small group's mentor's wedding day..^^
She is a special one in my life..(: and I had to play the piano for her wedding ceremony and be an usher at the reception.
It's been a busy, tiring, and a totally great day! On the reception, I and my small group friends gave a really surprising surprise for our beloved 'big sister'..Yeah..we sang, i played the music, and 1 of us gave an 'on the spot' poem..haha..
And about my birthday.. I couldn't celebrate myself like usual, because everyone's attention went to the bride and groom. I wasn't around the people i know on that day, well not everyone, but most of them. It doesn't mean that i got no wish at all. My friends still wish me happy birthday through SMS and some of them came when i just woke up. They sang, gave me a doughnuts cake, and gave me some birthday presents. How special they are..=3
But i learned something great that day..
I realized that birthday isn't only receiving things, because it depends on the circumstances. When the circumstance was good and you receive so many special things, you'll be happy on your birthday..
It'll be more joyful when the true birthday meaning is giving.. Giving something to others doesn't depend on the circumstances. When you give, you'll be happier than when you receive.. What a great birthday!
Happiness does not depend on the things around you.
Happiness depends on yourself..=)
